Citysearch Editorial Review By Otis Rubottom
Editorial Rating: Recommended
Northwest-influenced Mediterranean creations are featured on a weekly rotating menu at this charming restaurant.
The Scene
Deep-hued walls and furnishings that are a cross between rustic farmhouse and medieval church combine to form a warm, comfortable room. In the winter, candles and curtains envelop diners, but when the sun arrives, the large doors are thrown open and it's downright airy. Service is warm, with one of the owners always on hand to make sure everyone is taken care of.
The Food
The ... menu features contemporary Northwest, with a hearty dose of the Mediterranean. A simple starter of grilled shrimp gets a lift from honey and thyme. Soups stand out, like the silky, addictive avocado laced with spices. Halibut with orzo and okra is bathed in an aromatic buerre blanc; the hearty Tuscan steak is grilled and served with rich polenta. Don't skip the unique baklava, made Lebanese-style with rosewater syrup and walnuts.
